What Doesn’t Get Measured, Doesn’t Get Done

One of the most powerful (and underrated) lessons I learned from studying ACCA:

We hear this often in business:
Want higher revenue? Track sales.
Want a stronger team? Measure performance.
Measurement shapes behaviour!

If you only measure top-line revenue, you might have impressive numbers, but your bottom line could still be suffering. If your team is judged solely on speed, you sacrifice quality or long-term results.

You say you want to improve your finances—but do you track your net worth?
You say you want to get fit—but do you track your energy levels or workouts?
You say you want better habits—but do you measure your consistency?

You don’t need a complex Excel sheet (unless that’s your thing!). But you do need a simple system for accountability. Otherwise, life keeps you busy while you’re just spinning wheels.

If you don’t know where you are, how can you know where you’re going?

If fitness is your goal, and you don’t know your body fat percentage or strength level, how do you know what actions to take?

Of course, measuring can backfire. Tracking weight obsessively and not seeing quick results can discourage you. But the goal isn’t perfection; it’s self-awareness!

Some soft metrics worth tracking:
• Energy after certain activities
• Mood patterns
• Daily focus time (Forest app, anyone?)
• Self-trust: log moments of self-doubt to identify patterns

Feel stuck and like you’re “doing everything” with no results?

Ask yourself honestly:
• How many times have I tried?
• What exactly did I do?
• What didn’t work, and why?
• How did I adapt my approach?

If you can’t answer clearly, you’re probably winging it.

Common excuses (and my not-so-gentle responses):

“Not everything can be measured.”
→ True, but something always can: effort, mood, time.

“I don’t want rigidity.”
→ Tracking isn’t rigidity, it’s just awareness.

“I don’t have time.”
→ But you have time to complain?

“I trust the universe, I do not need measuring.”
→ Even planets follow a calculated orbit.

Start Simple: Track Your Habits

You don’t need a productivity system. Just a monthly habit tracker:
Did you walk today? Did you meditate? Did you write?

Reward yourself when you reach a goal.

Here’s a free printable tracker to get you started!

Final challenge:Feeling stuck?

Comment below with the area of your life that’s stuck.
I’ll tell you exactly what to measure to get unstuck.

Seriously, try me. 😄

Because what doesn’t get measured… doesn’t get done.
